Appeals often lead to benefits
Railroad disability
A system very similar to SSDI exists for qualifying railroad workers. If you have worked sufficiently, within the railroad industry, and you suffer from severe mental or physical impairments which limit your ability to return to work within the railroad system you may be entitled to a monthly disability benefit as well as Medicare.
Railroad workers must make an application with the United States Railroad Retirement Board (RRB)
As a starting point for any railroad disability claim the applicant must provide there:
- Period of service.
- Current or remote service connection.
- Type of benefits due.
- Type of work performed.
